Julia G. Placendo (Fernandez), 73, of Newfield, NJ passed away on Tuesday at her residence after a 10 year battle with ovarian cancer.
Mrs. Placendo was born & raised in Philadelphia, PA & had resided in Newfield since 1958. She was the daughter of the late Carmen (Denis) & Julio Fernandez & the wife of the late John Paul Placendo, Jr. who died in 2000. Before retiring in 1998 with 26 yrs of service, Mrs. Placendo was employed as a school nurse & health education for the Delsea Reg School District. She had previously been employed for 14 yrs as a nurse at the Newcomb Medical Center, Vineland, NJ. She was a member of the N.E.A., N.J.E.A., Gloucester County Retired Teachers Association & the St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Newfield. Julia loved reading & gardening. She was a graduate of Nazareth Academy, Torresdale, PA.
She is survived by a son: John P. Placendo, III; a daughter: Carmen McDonald; a granddaughter: Meghan McDonald; a Brother in law: Louis "Pip" & wife Gloria Placendo
Sister in law: Dora Gallucci as well as several nieces & nephews.
Her funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday in the St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 104 Catawba Ave., Newfield, NJ where relatives & friends will be received from 8:45-9:45 AM. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Vineland, NJ.
