Elizabeth D. Koons, age 89, of Vineland, passed away Thursday at the SJH Regional Medical Center in Vineland.
Elizabeth was born in Newfield & was the daughter of the late Antoinette & Antonia Scarpa. She was raised and resided in Vineland for her entire life, and after retirement, spent the winter months Naples, FL for nearly 20 years. Throughout her life, she had a servant’s heart. Elizabeth was a devoted homemaker who was fond of entertaining family & friends over dinner. She cooked various Italian delicacies, and the secret recipes that she used were handed down to her through her family’s previous generations. Elizabeth guarded them & proudly passed them on to a select few. Elizabeth enjoyed her herb garden and loved nature. She had a gift for arranging flowers & loved spending time with her Collie “Duncan.”
Wife of the late Sterling B. Koons & mother of the late Anthony Sterling Koons, she was predeceased by her siblings, Josephine, Antoinette, Pasqualina, Mary, Pasquale & Michael.
She is survived by her son, Clifford Koons & his soul mate, Evi Andra of Vineland;
A daughter-in-law, Dee Koons of Carney’s Point;
Two sisters, Barbara Koons & Jessie Burrell of Vineland;
Five grandchildren, Jennifer, Devon, Benjamin, Maegan, & Marghi;
Eight great-grandchildren & numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vineland, where relatives and friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the S.J. Healthcare Foundation, 1430 W. Sherman Ave., Vineland, NJ 08360 or to a charity of one’s choice.
